Anniversary of Magda Al-Khatib’s passing
The artist Magda Al-Khatib, whose real name is Magda Mohamed Kamel Al-Khatib, was born in Cairo on October 2, 1943. She is the daughter of the politician Mohamed Kamel Al-Khatib, one of the leaders of the “Girl Egypt” movement. Al-Khatib faced severe personal ordeals, including the arrest of her father for political reasons, and she herself was subjected to legal trials.
Magda Al-Khatib began her artistic career in 1960 with a small role in the movie “Love and Pleasure,” then she participated in the movie “Melody of Happiness,” and 10 years later, specifically in 1970, she presented her first absolute starring role with director Hassan Al-Imam in the movie “Dalal Al-Masria,” which drew attention to her with this role, and it represented her real launch into the world of art, after she became famous among the public and gained the attention of critics.
Her stardom continued to become more prominent, and two years later, specifically in 1972, she presented her first production after producing the film “Compliance” for herself, for which she won the Golden Pyramid Acting Award. During her artistic career, she participated in more than 55 cinematic and television works. Through the movie “Love and Pleasure”, then she caught attention in the movie “Half Hour Passport”. She achieved her first absolute starring role in 1970 in the film “Dalal Al-Masria” directed by Hassan Al-Imam, after which she launched towards stardom.
Throughout her career, Al-Khatib presented more than 50 artistic works between cinema and television. Her most prominent cinematic works include: “Chatter on the Nile” (1971), “Mouths and Rabbits” (1977), “Buoy No. 70” (1982), and “Alexandria, New York” (2004). She also appeared in television works such as the series “Umm Kulthum” (1999), the series “Zezinia” (2000), and the series “Raya and Sakina.”
