The General Organization for Social Insurance launched a comprehensive procedural guide for the benefit of the prisoner’s family, today, revealing the details of the entitlement of the families of Saudi participants to Monthly pensions with a minimum of more than 1,983 riyals or lump sum compensation.

This comes within the framework of a social protection system that aims to secure living stability for prisoners’ families and bridge the financial gap resulting from the absence of the breadwinner, through easy digital procedures on the “GOSI” platform.

This benefit is known as one of the basic insurance pillars that is specifically designed to provide psychological and material security, and to ensure that the family receives regular financial support that covers its basic needs. During the participant’s imprisonment period, which reflects the organization’s commitment to covering the social risks that participants and their families may face in various circumstances.

Regulations restricted the use of this service to Financial entitlement criteria are precise, as a continuous “monthly pension” is determined for the family if the participant has a service balance exceeding 120 months and has been sentenced to imprisonment or whose suspension continues for three months or more, ensuring a steady cash flow to the family that compensates for the lost salary.

On the other hand, the benefit is disbursed as a “one-time payment” if the prisoner’s subscription periods are less than 120 months, provided that the sentence issued against him is imprisonment. For a period of five years or more, which balances the participant’s insurance rights with the nature of the compensation granted to his family.

With regard to the financial value, the Foundation confirmed that the calculation of the benefit is subject to the legally approved retirement equation, with a minimum protection ceiling of no less than 1,983.75 Saudi riyals for the pension, to ensure the provision of subsistence and decent living for the beneficiary families and to protect them from destitution.

The time mechanism for disbursement has been set so that the entitlement begins from the month following the date of the participant’s entry into prison, or after three months have passed from the date of suspension for those against whom final judgments have not been issued, provided that the support continues throughout the period. The period of imprisonment extends for an additional three months after the date of release, to enable the family to rearrange its situation.

The system showed great flexibility in dealing with variables, as it allowed the possibility of automatically converting the prisoner’s family benefit into a regular “retirement benefit” in the event that the participant reaches the regular retirement age while still serving his sentence, provided that the family’s eligibility conditions continue to be met.

The guide stressed the necessity of having a package of documents to ensure the integrity of the procedures, including the Sharia ruling instrument or the arrest warrant explaining it. Periods, identity proofs for non-Saudi dependents, and forms of proof of support for parents and siblings, in addition to academic transcripts for male children between 21 and 26 years old.

The institution concluded its clarification by specifying the complete digital application path, where the legal agent must log into his account on the “GOSI” platform, choose the “Prisoner’s Family Benefit” service, then fill out the data and upload the required documents, so that the application can be reviewed and the dues disbursed without the need to visit the branches.
