The Brown University bomber is still at large and the FBI is offering a reward
FBI experts combed the area that witnessed a massive shooting that claimed the lives of two students at the prestigious Brown University, as the search for the attacker continued for the fourth day.
Pictures posted by the FBI on social media showed laboratory specialists and evidence response teams conducting a forensic search outside the university’s campus in Providence, Rhode Island.
The shooting occurred on Saturday when a man armed with a rifle stormed a building at the university where exams were being held and opened fire before fleeing.
On Tuesday, Providence officials showed a new video showing the suspect walking through residential areas of the city.
Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said: “There is enhanced video recording so we ask the public to pay attention to body movements and body position… which can help you identify this person.”
Perez renewed his appeal to residents who own homes and vehicles equipped with cameras to provide video recordings to the police. He added that investigators received two hundred reports on which action could be taken.
The authorities initially arrested a man in connection with the shooting, but later released him, indicating that he had nothing to do with the operation.
The FBI, which offered a reward of $50,000 for the suspect’s arrest, said he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
On Tuesday, Brown University called on its students who were at the scene when the shooting occurred on Saturday to prepare to be questioned by the police.
The two students who were killed were Ella Cook, vice president of the Republican Association at Brown University, and Muhammad Aziz Omurzukov, a neurosurgeon from Uzbekistan.
This shooting is the latest in a long line of attacks on schools and universities in the United States, where attempts to restrict the acquisition of firearms face political obstacles.
The United States, where there are more guns than people, has seen more than 300 mass shootings this year, including this one, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive, which defines mass shootings as incidents in which firearms are used and result in four or more people being injured.
