Gold rises 1% and silver rises 4%

New York, December 17 / WAM / Gold prices rose today and recorded $4,332.21 per ounce in spot transactions, after rising by more than 1 percent earlier in the day. US gold futures rose 0.7 percent to $4,364.
Silver prices exceeded $66 per ounce today, setting a new record high.
The price of silver in spot transactions rose about four percent to $66.3 per ounce, after touching the highest level ever at $66.51 earlier in the session. Silver increased 126 percent this year, exceeding the rate of increase in gold, which recorded an annual increase of 65 percent.
