The United Nations denies any connection to the International Women’s Day website

The United Nations denied any connection to the “internationalwomensday.com” website, which is run by a London-based marketing office, after British companies and institutions adopted the site’s topics in their campaigns related to International Women’s Day.
A Guardian report indicates that the site, owned by IWD Support Ltd, formerly known as Aurora Ventures (Europe) Ltd, sells products bearing the International Women’s Day logo and hosts paid events, including a £160 lunch to boost participants’ so-called ‘inner goddess’. The site has also established a series of partnerships with British companies and academic institutions, including Sainsbury’s, Barclays and University College London, which appear to have mistakenly believed the site was affiliated with the United Nations.
A spokeswoman for UN Women, the body responsible for organizing the annual international celebration of International Women’s Day, said that the organization has no relationship with the site.
She added: “Every year, a team of international experts determines the official theme for International Women’s Day, and it is announced through our official channels at the beginning of the year.
The site had invented annual themes for itself, such as “Make it Happen” for 2015, “Accelerate Business” for 2025, and “Give to Earn” for 2026, and some British companies have adopted these themes in their marketing campaigns.
Universities such as Warwick and UCL confirmed that they removed posts related to these topics after realizing that the site was not affiliated with the United Nations.
The website was launched in 2001 as a non-profit project aimed at promoting gender equality, according to a spokesperson for IWD Support, who confirmed that the site explains the history of International Women’s Day and the various entities involved in it, including UN Women, which was later founded in 2010.
