5 clubs participate in the first 3×3 wheelchair basket gathering

Sharjah, December 21, WAM / Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled yesterday hosted the first gathering of the 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball League, organized by the National Paralympic Committee, with the participation of 5 clubs: Al-Ain, Al-Thiqa, Khor Fakkan, Dubai, and Ajman.

The gathering witnessed the holding of a number of matches, where Al-Thiqa Club achieved victory over Al-Ain with a score of 9-6, and defeated Dubai 14-11, and Ajman 11-8, while Khor Fakkan Club excelled by achieving a series of victories over Dubai 8-4, over Al-Ain 12-6, and over Al-Thiqa 10-6, in addition to its victory over Ajman 12-4.

Dubai Club also defeated Ajman with a score of 9-1, and also beat Al Ain 13-6, while Al Ain Club was able to achieve victory over Ajman with a score of 11-5.

The results of the first assembly reflected the great convergence in technical levels between the participating teams, with a strong start for the league in its new season.

Theban Salem Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the National Paralympic Committee, stressed that the launch of the first gathering of the league represents an important step within the strategy of developing wheelchair basketball and enhancing the players’ readiness for future competitions.

He explained that organizing these gatherings contributes to raising the level of competition between clubs and providing a professional environment that supports the development of players, which will reflect positively on the level of national teams in the future.
