Al Yasat Festival concludes its activities and crowns the winners of its competitions

Al Dhafra, December 22nd, WAM / Al Yasat Festival concluded its third session yesterday, with the crowning of the winners of the Al Yasat Shaari Fishing Championship, the Al Yasat Modern Sailing Boat Race (regatta), air rifle competitions, bow and arrow competitions, beach soccer for adults and children, and beach volleyball.
The festival began on December 12 on the waterfront of the Commodity City in Al Dhafra Region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in a strategic partnership with the Emirates Council for Balanced Development.
Zayed Sari Al Mazrouei, Acting Director of the Heritage and Marine Festivals Department at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, confirmed that the festival is one of the most prominent events that contribute to consolidating national identity, as a heritage and social forum that combines entertainment and the transfer of knowledge, which achieves the Authority’s goals and its commitment to preserving Emirati heritage.
He expressed his thanks to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and the Emirates Council for Balanced Development for their great efforts in making the festival a success, thanking the partners, supporters, sponsors, participants in the event and the festival audience, stressing that the festival achieved remarkable success in terms of the level of interaction with its activities with the participation of various age groups.
He pointed to the diversity of the festival’s programs and activities, which included sailboat races, marine and beach sports, heritage competitions, popular market events, and displays of folk arts and handicrafts, with more than 7 million dirhams allocated as prizes for 24 competitions, indicating that these competitions succeeded in attracting participants and visitors from Al Sila City and various regions of Al Dhafra.
The festival witnessed wide participation in its marine, heritage, sports and beach activities and competitions, most notably the Al Yasat Race for 60-foot sailboats, and the Al-Qafai Race for 22-foot sailboats.
The festival also organized the Hadad Championship, the carrom and domino competitions, the bicycle race, the swimming championship, the running race, beach volleyball, beach soccer, folk games, and cooking, in addition to a number of daily traditional competitions. The closing day witnessed a fireworks display that won the approval of the audience.
The Al Yasat Festival was organized with the aim of highlighting the diversity and richness of the Emirati heritage, enhancing the presence of traditional marine sports in society, highlighting the importance of the Emirati coastal cities, and supporting tourism and economic activity in the Al Dhafra region.
