Aboul Gheit condemns the Israeli government’s approval of the establishment of 19 new settlements in the West Bank

Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned the decision of the Israeli Mini-Cabinet to approve the establishment of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, considering that this decision represents a blatant challenge to the international will to reject settlement, and a clear violation of international law that confirms the illegality of the settlements.
Aboul Gheit explained, in a statement issued today, that the continued expansion of illegal settlement aims to undermine the chances of establishing an independent, geographically contiguous Palestinian state, and reflects the nature of the policies pursued by the Israeli government, which is subject to the dominance of extremist movements and settlers.
He stressed that settlement expansion will not give any legitimacy to this illegal activity, stressing that the acts of violence committed by extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank are a form of terrorism, and this is done under the nose and eyes of the occupation authorities and under the protection of their official agencies.
