$1,468 causes Baniyas to be banned from player contracts…and the club reveals the facts

Baniyas Club revealed the details of its name being included in the temporary ban lists for player contracts on the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) website, stressing in a press statement that “the case relates to limited financial dues not exceeding $1,468,” stressing that the measures currently taken are of a purely administrative nature, and it is expected that the file will be closed within a few working days.
FIFA had announced on its official website that Baniyas Club will be prohibited from concluding any deals during three successive transfer periods, which means preventing it from participating in the winter transfer period, which begins next January 13 and continues until February 9, in addition to the summer transfer period for the year 2026, and the winter transfer period at the beginning of 2027.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) explained that its registration ban list, which includes a large number of clubs around the world, is a vital resource for the football community, given the detailed data it contains on the clubs that are currently facing decisions banning the registration of new players issued by FIFA.
The club stated in the statement received by “Emirates Today” that the amount in question is related to a former assistant coach whose contract was terminated due to his failure to adhere to his job duties and his repeated absence from work, explaining that the dues relate to a few days that the coach spent in the country before the end of his duties.
Baniyas confirmed that he paid the full amount and transferred it to the coach’s personal bank account inside the country as soon as it was due, along with attaching official proofs of the transfer. However, the latter later resorted to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) demanding a full six-month salary.
The club indicated that the FIFA Dispute Resolution Committee supported its position, and only approved seven days’ dues, which was the amount that had already been paid ($1,468), which means rejecting the additional claims submitted by the coach.
According to the statement, Baniyas submitted an explanatory memorandum supported by all necessary financial and legal documents, stressing that the ban will be lifted as soon as the routine administrative procedures at FIFA are completed, which the club was officially informed of.
In this context, the club stressed its full commitment to the regulations of the International Federation of Association Football and the laws regulating professional work, stressing that its record is free of any regulatory or financial violations, and that it always adheres to the principles of compliance and transparency.
Bani Yas expressed his surprise at the way the issue was dealt with in some media outlets, considering that the issue was exaggerated without referring to the club management or verifying its details, even though the origin of the dispute does not exceed a small amount that was paid in advance.
The club concluded its statement by stressing that it will begin taking the necessary legal measures, including submitting an official complaint to the Emirates Football Association, against the backdrop of what it described as the defamation that affected its reputation, reassuring its fans that the case will not affect the team’s stability or its sporting career.
It is noteworthy that Baniyas Club is the only ADNOC Professional League club included in this list, which also includes other clubs within the country, including Al Gharbia Club and Fleetwood United, which are active in the second and third divisions.
