Greenland’s Prime Minister is “saddened” by Trump’s renewed interest in acquiring the island

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Friedrik Nielsen said on Tuesday that he was “saddened” by US President Donald Trump’s renewed interest in acquiring the Arctic island.

Nielsen made his statements on Facebook after Trump confirmed yesterday, Monday, that the United States needs Greenland for reasons related to its national security, indicating that the special envoy he appointed for the vast, mineral-rich island “will lead this mission.”
