Turkish media reported, on Tuesday evening, that a Falcon 50 plane carrying the Chief of Staff of the Libyan government of Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, Muhammad al-Haddad, had crashed in Ankara.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that contact had been lost with a plane carrying the Chief of Staff of the Dabaiba government and 4 other people.

He added on his account on the “X” platform: “The plane was heading from Ankara to Tripoli and requested an emergency landing in the Ankara area, but communication was cut off after that.”

A video clip showed footage of an explosion that occurred in the area near the point where communication with the plane was lost.

Reuters said that flight tracking data shows flights being diverted away from Ankara Airport.

Libyan media revealed that Al-Dabaiba formed a crisis cell to communicate with the Turkish side regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, Turkish media highlighted that Al-Haddad’s plane crashed while heading from Ankara to Tripoli, and the fate of its passengers is still unknown.

Earlier Tuesday, Al-Haddad held discussions in Ankara with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler and Chief of Staff Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, which dealt with military cooperation between the two sides.
