Details: China complains about India’s practices regarding global trade

I submitted China at a request to the Global Trade to settle disputes with India regarding some measures imposed by New Delhi on the trade of photovoltaic and information technology products, according to what the United Nations announced on Tuesday.

Beijing objects to some of the aid provided to the solar energy sector and customs duties imposed by India on products such as phones or devices for developing publishing technologies on flat screens, according to the Geneva-based organization.

The organization explained that "China indicated that the measures in question include the tariffs applied by India, and some other measures that it considers to be conditional on the use of national products and discriminatory towards Chinese imports."

Chinese Consultation Request

China confirmed in the consultation request that it circulated to members of the World Trade Organization on Tuesday that these measures "Not consistent with various provisions of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (1994) of the World Trade Organization, the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, and the Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures"

A request for consultation constitutes the first formal step in WTO dispute resolution procedures.
Consultations provide the parties with the opportunity to consider the matter and find a satisfactory solution before escalation.

If the consultations do not allow the matter to be resolved within a period of 60 days, the complainant may request that the matter be referred to a special committee under a judicial process.
