Al Wasl is able to compete in the AFC Champions League 2

Al-Wasl coach, Masoud Miral, expressed his happiness with the victory that his team achieved yesterday, over Jordanian Al-Wahdat, with a score of 2-1, at the conclusion of the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2, stressing that the team provided a strong reaction in the second half, and succeeded in ending the first stage in a distinguished manner.
Miral said in a press conference: “We talked at halftime about the need to enter the second half better, and this is what actually happened. We played as a small team at first, but after conceding the goal, the reaction given by the players was something I am proud of.”
He added: “We created more than one opportunity to advance, and we deserved a greater result. It is true that mistakes happen in football, but the important thing is that we achieved the goal, which is the victory and the three points, and ensuring the best possible position before the playoffs.”
Al-Wasl coach continued: “We will work during the coming period to develop the performance, before the next match in the ADNOC Professional League in four days. We played six matches in the group stage, during which we presented good levels, and we still have a lot to develop.”
Regarding the team’s ability to compete in the AFC Champions League 2, Miral said: “We have great players and a team capable of competing at the highest level, and we work match by match, without pressure and without anticipating events. Success comes step by step, and our focus now is on the next confrontation.”
Al-Wasl achieved a moral victory over Al-Wahdat of Jordan, in the match that brought them together at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, at the conclusion of the first group competitions of the AFC Champions League 2.
Al-Wasl raised its score to 14 points at the top of the group, after ensuring qualification to the round of 16 before the start of the match, while Al-Wahdat remained in fourth place with four points, leaving the tournament without changing its position. Al-Wasl took the lead first through defender Edrillson Silva, after a perfect follow-up to Pedro’s cross from the right side, before Al-Wahdat managed to equalize through Mustafa Moawad.
But Al-Wasl quickly returned to regain the lead, thanks to Lima, who took advantage of a ball that bounced off the Jordanian goalkeeper and put it into the net, giving his team the third victory in the group stage.
Despite the absence of a strong club on the field, Al Wasl’s technical staff succeeded in giving a number of players the opportunity to participate, and resting some of the key elements before the upcoming February duels, which observers considered an additional gain for the team, especially with the stability of the defensive performance, and the success of the offensive system in exploiting the available opportunities.
Al-Wasl also appeared more organized during long periods of the match, with a clear improvement in possession and spread, while Al-Wahdat contented itself with limited attempts that did not pose much danger, with the exception of the equalizing goal shot.
With this victory, Al Wasl concludes its campaign in the group stage with high confidence, and without loss, heading to the round of 16, where the draw for the round will be drawn on the 30th of this month, with the matches being held next February.
