I discussed a literary evening at Jazan titled "When I left the sea"The Saudi novel and its contemporary transformations.
Organized the symposium Literary partner For the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority in the Jazan region, in partnership with the Dhaw Society for Theater and Performing Arts on Wednesday evening, and hosted the novelist and writer Amr Al-Amiri, at the association’s headquarters in the city of Jizan.
The evening dealt with Al-Amiri’s literary experience, stopping at the narrative and human transformations in his novel works, and his relationship with place and memory.
In addition to his reading of the concept of the sea as a symbol and significance in the text, and the meanings it carries. It intersects with personal experience and artistic writing.
Transformations of the Saudi Novel
The evening witnessed a remarkable presence of intellectuals and those interested in literature and narrative, who interacted with the topics of the meeting through interventions and questions that opened horizons for discussion regarding the Saudi novel, its modern paths, and the role of the writer in expressing social and cultural transformations.
This evening comes within the programs of the Cultural Society aimed at revitalizing the literary and theatrical movement in the Jazan region, Creating dialogue spaces that bring together writers and the public, contribute to strengthening the local cultural scene, and supporting the presence of literature as one of the tributaries of national creativity.
