"Culture" Concludes the project to document intangible cultural heritage in Al-Ahsa


Ministry of Culture inventory, documentation and archiving project Intangible cultural heritage in Al-Ahsa, by holding a workshop in the governorate, in the presence of stakeholders and relevant authorities.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts aimed at preserving the national cultural heritage and strengthening the Saudi cultural identity.
The project included a field survey of various cities and villages of Al-Ahsa, during which various elements of the intangible cultural heritage were identified and documented, including oral traditions, performing arts, skills related to cultural handicrafts, social practices, and knowledge related to nature and the environment. Local authorities, in cooperation with relevant authorities, specialized experts, and local practitioners.

Reviewing the final results of the project

The workshop witnessed a review of the final results of the project, and the submission of reports on digital documentation and archiving work.
In addition to discussing mechanisms for sustaining these efforts, and ensuring the transfer of this cultural heritage to future generations, which contributes to enhancing community awareness of the value and importance of intangible cultural heritage.

This project comes within the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to preserve memory. Cultural Heritage, as part of its ongoing programs to digitize Saudi cultural memory, enhance integration with cultural and societal bodies, and benefit from the experience of Al-Ahsa Governorate as a rich and diverse national model in the field of preserving intangible cultural heritage.
It also reflects the Ministry’s commitment to protecting and preserving Saudi cultural heritage, and enhancing its presence locally and internationally, in a way that supports the process of cultural development, and contributes to achieving the goals of the National Cultural Strategy, under the umbrella of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
