Ministry of Economy and Tourism Inc "Rebound" They enhance cooperation in the fields of circular economy

Dubai, December 28 / WAM / The Ministry of Economy and Tourism signed a memorandum of understanding with Rebound, a company specializing in circular economy solutions, providing data and analyzes on material and waste flows with the aim of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences in the fields of the circular economy, preparing joint studies, and developing innovative initiatives and activities that contribute to achieving the goals of the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2021-2031.
The memorandum was signed at the Ministry’s headquarters in Dubai by Her Excellency Dr. Maria Hanif Al Qassim, Assistant Undersecretary for the Policy and Economic Studies Sector at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. And Maryam Al Mansouri, founder and general manager of Rebound Company.
Her Excellency Dr. Maria Al-Qassim stressed that the private sector represents an essential partner in supporting the country’s efforts in transitioning towards the circular economy model, and in this context, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism is keen to enhance cooperation and build strategic partnerships with various companies and institutions in implementing and developing circular economy policies, exchanging experiences, identifying challenges, and setting priorities for the four main sectors of the circular economy policy, which are manufacturing, food, transportation, and infrastructure.
Her Excellency said that, through cooperation with Rebound, we seek to innovate sustainable solutions and launch joint initiatives that enhance innovation in resource management, and create sustainable models that contribute to reducing environmental damage, ensuring higher efficiency in the processes of design, manufacturing, reuse, manufacturing, recycling, and increasing productivity, and in a way that enhances achieving a balance between economic growth and environmental preservation, in light of the “UAE Circular Economy 2031” agenda.
For her part, Maryam Al Mansouri stressed the importance of signing the memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism to support the implementation of the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2021-2031, noting that cooperation includes exchanging experiences and data, implementing specialized workshops, and preparing joint studies.
The memorandum covers a range of cooperation axes, including exchanging information and experiences, organizing workshops and building capabilities, preparing studies and reports, participating in relevant conferences and official missions, in addition to exploring future joint projects.
Under the memorandum, there will be cooperation with Rebound to provide the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the Emirates Circular Economy Council with accurate data and analyzes on the flows of materials and waste, and to support initiatives and pilot projects through specialized workshops, in a way that supports achieving the national goals of the circular economy.
This memorandum comes as part of the country’s efforts to enhance an innovative and sustainable business environment, and to support companies and entrepreneurs in adopting environmentally friendly economic solutions, which contributes to increasing investments and enhancing the country’s competitiveness at the international level.
It is noteworthy that the UAE adopts the Circular Economy Policy 2021-2031 as a comprehensive framework to determine the country’s paths towards achieving sustainable management of resources and efficient consumption, ensuring quality of life for current and future generations.
Within the framework of this policy, the state has launched the UAE Agenda for the Circular Economy 2031, and the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in cooperation with its strategic partners, is working to create a legislative and regulatory environment that stimulates investment in circular economy projects and supports the transformation of companies towards flexible and sustainable business models that serve economic and social development in the country.
