Britain loses 1.5 billion pounds from wasting wind energy

London, December 28 / WAM / Britain incurred losses of approximately 1.5 billion pounds during the year 2025 as a result of wasted wind energy, due to bottlenecks in the electricity network that prevented the transfer of renewable energy from areas of production to areas of consumption.

This waste occurs when the electricity grid is forced to shut down wind turbines, especially in Scotland, because it is unable to absorb the electricity generated, while gas plants are operated to provide alternative energy at a higher cost, according to the British newspaper “The Telegraph”.

The British Energy Regulatory Authority warned that these practices have already contributed to increasing electricity bills for families.

The problem is expected to worsen in the coming years as the government expands to connect new wind and solar energy projects to the grid, as part of its endeavor to achieve the goals of zero neutrality, most notably generating 95% of electricity from clean sources by 2030. However, the delay in modernizing the network infrastructure threatens to raise the costs of stopping production to higher levels.
