Furjan Dubai…a supportive model for volunteerism and community cohesion

The Emirate of Dubai has established a culture of volunteerism and teamwork, through an integrated system of community initiatives and institutions that have made volunteer work a way of life that reflects community awareness and shared responsibility.
The participation of volunteers in community, cultural, sporting and humanitarian events stands out as a key element in the success of the major events that the emirate witnesses throughout the year, as volunteers contribute in organizational and field roles that reflect the cultural image of Dubai, and enhance the quality of the experience provided to the public and visitors, in addition to the sustainable social and humanitarian impact it achieves.
In this context, the Farjan Dubai Foundation continues its community role in supporting and promoting the culture of volunteering, by attracting and qualifying volunteers, and involving them in various events and initiatives that it organizes or supports at the emirate level, in a way that consolidates the values of giving and teamwork, and reflects the spirit of the cohesive Emirati society.
The Farjan Dubai Foundation places volunteering among its strategic priorities, as one of the basic paths to support major community events in the Emirate of Dubai, and an embodiment of the authentic Emirati values of cooperation, hospitality, and the spirit of giving.
The Foundation works to reflect, through its volunteers, the image of Dubai’s cohesive society, which extends a helping hand on various occasions and events, emphasizing that volunteering is not just a passing contribution, but rather a way of life that translates the vision of the wise leadership in promoting social responsibility.
The number of volunteers affiliated with Furjan Dubai reached more than 1,300 volunteers, an increase of 100% compared to last year, as they participated in supporting and organizing a wide range of events and initiatives organized by the organization throughout the year, as well as major events hosted by the emirate, the most prominent of which are the Al Furjan Festival and the Summer Camp, in addition to the Al Freej Refrigerator initiative that embodies the spirit of human solidarity, in addition to a number of major events that Dubai hosts annually, the most recent of which was the Al Furjan Challenge. This increasing number of volunteers reflects the growing confidence in the Furjan Dubai Foundation as a community umbrella capable of directing individuals’ energies towards work that serves the community and enhances cohesion among the emirate’s residents. The Foundation adopts a clear and transparent mechanism for managing volunteer operations, which begins by announcing volunteer opportunities through its official pages on social media sites, followed by the registration and selection process, then distributing tasks in proportion to the nature of the event and the number of participants.
Volunteers are assigned multiple field and organizational tasks, including reception, logistical supervision, coordination of visitor movement, and support of technical and administrative teams, which contribute to providing a distinctive experience for event guests and participants.
In this context, Jamal Al Shuaibi, Director of Operations at Furjan Dubai, stressed that the culture of volunteering represents a fundamental pillar in the work of the organization, which is keen to involve volunteers in events that reflect the civilized and humanitarian face of Dubai, the most recent of which was the Arab Reading Challenge, as about 90 volunteers contributed to the success of the event, and provided an honorable model of commitment, discipline, and one team spirit.
Al-Shuaibi added that the Farjan Dubai Foundation always opens its doors to everyone who wishes to volunteer and participate in the community, stressing that the Foundation not only empowers volunteers within events, but also works to train them and develop their organizational and communication skills, preparing them to be ambassadors for their community in various forums and events.
