Omani dowry "SSR Khailan" Wins the Gulf Cooperation Council Horse Racing Cup

Sharjah, December 28 / WAM / The eighth edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council Horse Racing Cup, organized by the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, began this evening at the Sharjah Longines Racecourse.

His Excellency Sultan Muhammad Khalifa Al Yahyai, Director General of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, crowned the colt “SSR Khailan” by Salem Saeed Hamid Al Rashidi with the championship title, and the Omani horse won the grand prize in the main race, whose prizes amounted to 200,000 dirhams. The mare “Nisreen Al Wathba” also excelled, achieving the start kick championship for Yas Racing, while the horses of Abu Dhabi Racing recorded a double victory with the colt “Wasim Baynouna.” who won the opening round cup, and the filly “Zahra Baynouna” who won the second half cup.

The tournament included 6 rounds, during which 87 horses competed for financial prizes worth 400,000 dirhams, all of which were allocated to purebred Arabian horses, with the exception of the sixth round, which was allocated to purebred hybrid horses.

At the beginning of the race, the colt “Wasim Baynouna” for Abu Dhabi Racing, under the supervision of trainer Saif Al Marar and led by jockey Sandro Paiva, snatched the first-half cup designated for beginner purebred Arabian horses – foals and horses – 3 years old – over the 1,200-meter speed distance, with the participation of 16 horses in the competition for financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.

The filly, Zahra Baynouna, was awarded the double for Abu Dhabi Racing Horses, under the supervision of trainer Saif Al Marar and led by jockey Sandro Paiva, the second-half cup reserved for purebred Arabian fillies beginners over the 1,200-meter speed distance, with 16 fillies participating in the competition for financial prizes amounting to 40,000 dirhams. The double victory was also awarded to the trainer and the jockey.

The horse “AF Al-Fariq” by Mohammed Musabah Mohammed Al Mazrouei, under the supervision of trainer Qais Abboud and led by the jockey Bernardo Pinheiro, advanced confidently to the lead and snatched the third round cup reserved for beginner purebred Arabian horses, Emirates breeding horses aged 3 years and above, over a distance of 1,700 metres, with the participation of 16 horses in the competition for financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.

The mare, Nisreen Al Wathba, from Yas Racing, under the supervision of coach Eric Lemartnell and led by jockey Sylvester de Sousa, achieved a deserved victory in the fourth round cup allocated to purebred Arabian horses according to age and results over a distance of 2000 metres, with the participation of 9 horses in the competition for financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.

The Omani colt “SSR Khaylan” by Salem Saeed Hamid Al Rashidi, under the supervision of trainer Abdul Aziz Al Rashidi and led by the jockey Hamid Al Maliki, won the fifth-round cup designated for purebred Arabian horses “Haiba” and won the title of the eighth edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council Cup for a distance of 1,700 metres, with 14 horses participating in the competition for financial prizes amounting to 200 thousand dirhams, while the horse “Hameem” came in second place, while the horse “Rumz” won. Muscat, third place.

At the conclusion of the competitions, the horse “Arabian Anqul” for Akram Racing, under the supervision of coach Bobat Simar and led by the jockey Taj Oshi, achieved a remarkable victory in the sixth round cup designated for purebred cross-bred horses, par for a distance of 1,200 metres, with the participation of 16 horses in the competition for financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.
