Increased activity and earthquakes… raising the warning level for a volcano in Indonesia


Indonesian authorities have raised the warning level to Mount Bor Ni Tilong in Aceh Province, the westernmost part of the country, has reached the second level, after a series of excessive activity and volcanic earthquakes.

Possible eruption

Visual monitoring by the agency showed that the volcano is clearly visible, and no smoke is emitting from its crater. However, it warned of a possible eruption, including underground explosions and the emission of dangerous volcanic gases near areas that contain volcanic craters that emit vapors and gases.

Indonesia is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, and contains more than 120 active volcanoes. Which makes it one of the most volcanically active countries in the world.
