Declare The US Army on Tuesday carried out strikes that killed 11 people on three boats that it said were being used to smuggle drugs in eastern The Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
The US Army’s Southern Command wrote in a post on the X platform that the strikes carried out on Monday evening resulted in the death of "Four people on the first boat in the eastern Pacific, four on the second boat in the eastern Pacific, and three on the third boat in the Caribbean"
The post included a video clip showing the attacks on three boats, two of which were stationary at the moment of the attack, while the third was sailing quickly. People could be seen moving two boats before the strikes.
Donald Trump
The United States began targeting boats suspected of involvement in smuggling at the beginning of September, killing more than 140 people and destroying dozens of boats so far.
The administration of President Donald Trump insists that it is at war with what it calls "Drug terrorists" Who are active in Latin America. But it did not provide conclusive evidence that the boats it targeted were involved in drug smuggling, which sparked intense debate about the legality of the strikes.
Experts in international law and human rights organizations say that the strikes may amount to extrajudicial killings, as they are believed to have included civilians who do not pose a direct threat to the United States.
