Through a special program… Miley Cyrus celebrates the twentieth anniversary of Hannah Montana

Once upon a time, the blonde, wise-cracking pop star sang, “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home,” and it seems like those words still ring true for Miley Cyrus.

Disney+ announced on Tuesday (February 17) a Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, set to premiere on March 24, exactly 20 years to the day that the series premiered on Disney Channel. To share the news, Miley Cyrus posted a teaser on her Instagram account; It shows a car bearing the license plate “HM20” arriving at one of the filming locations, before Cyrus emerges from it wearing black leather high-heeled shoes.

“Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am,” Cyrus said in a statement. “What started as a TV show has become a shared experience that has shaped my life and the lives of countless fans, and I will remain grateful for that connection. The fact that the work still means so much to people after all these years is something I am very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who have stood by me for 20 years.”

The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special will feature an exclusive, in-depth conversation between Cyrus and Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper, where they’ll touch on the ongoing impact of the series, the longevity of Hannah Montana’s original music, and how they created this beloved character. The show will also feature never-before-seen archival footage, as well as returns to key filming locations, including the Stewart family’s living room and Hannah Montana’s famous closet.

Although no musical performances have been confirmed yet, Cyrus recently revealed that she is now able to perform Hannah Montana songs. “After I left Disney, I wasn’t allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music,” she said in a 2025 episode of The Ringer podcast. “That was sad, because those songs were my voice and my face, and I couldn’t sing them. And after I was named a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform them in the future, which is great.”

And of course, Cyrus has carved out a cross-generational pop career outside of Hannah, during which she’s had two No. 1 Hot 100 songs, two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, and three Grammy Awards. She celebrated her 10th Grammy nomination (for Something Beautiful in the Best Pop Vocal Album category) on February 1.

Last winter, she collaborated with Disney on Avatar: Fire and Ash, for which she provided the Golden Globe-nominated original song “Dream As One.” (Billboard)
