Deaths and injuries as a result of an explosion at a ski resort in Switzerland

An explosion occurred in a bar in the Crans Montana resort in the Swiss Alps, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries, police announced early this morning.
“There was an explosion of unknown origin,” said Gaetan Laton, spokesman for the Valais canton police in southwestern Switzerland, adding, “There are several wounded and dead.”
The police explained in a statement that the entire area had been closed and that a no-fly zone had been imposed over the resort.
He added, “The fire broke out at around 1:30 a.m. today, in a bar called (Le Constellation). More than 100 people were inside the building, and we are currently witnessing many injuries and deaths.”
Scenes published by Swiss media showed a burning building with relief teams next to it. The spokesman noted that “a reception center and helpline for affected families have been established.” He explained, “We are only at the beginning of our investigation, but this is a world-famous ski resort, and it attracts many tourists.”
