No need to worry…this is how you remove makeup stains from clothes without damaging the fabric

Amidst the rush of the morning and the pressure of time, an inadvertent touch of foundation or lipstick may turn into an annoying stain on a carefully chosen dress. Despite the embarrassment that the situation may cause, dealing with it is easier than it seems, and requires nothing more than calmness and some simple steps that restore the clothes’ cleanliness and elegance within minutes.

According to experts from the German Cosmetics, Perfumes and Detergents Association, makeup stains can be removed effectively without harming the fabric, if they are handled correctly.

First: Calm down before taking any step
Start by gently removing excess makeup, using a soft tissue or a dry cloth, patting lightly on the stain without rubbing, because harsh rubbing pushes the dye deeper into the fabric.

Second: Pretreatment
Put a drop of stain remover or gentle washing liquid directly on the affected area, leave it for only one minute, then massage it lightly with your fingertips or a piece of cotton. It is best to try this step on an inconspicuous part of the garment to ensure that the color is consistent.

Third: proper washing
Wash the item according to the instructions written on the internal label, and at the highest temperature allowed. As for sensitive fabrics, such as wool and silk, it is recommended to wash them by hand with lukewarm water and a specialized detergent.

Fourth: Repeat when needed
If a slight trace remains after the first wash, repeat the same steps a second time, and the stain often disappears completely without leaving any trace.

Quick tips from style experts:
– Avoid hot water immediately with oily makeup stains because it may set the color instead of removing it.
-Always keep makeup remover wipes in your bag for emergencies.
– Leave the piece to dry in the shade to preserve the color of the fabric.
