Abu Dhabi Police calls on drivers not to be distracted by anything other than the road

Abu Dhabi, January 2 / WAM / Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers not to be distracted by anything other than the road while crossing intersections and traffic lights, and warned of the negative consequences that may occur on the road when the driver is distracted and crosses the traffic light, especially towards the left.

It broadcast a video in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Center of accidents due to lack of focus on the road path, pointing out that being busy with anything other than the road leads to the sudden deviation of the vehicle.

She called on drivers to pay attention while driving, pay attention to pedestrians, road signs and its surroundings, and traffic police instructions and adhere to them, to avoid accidents, explaining that a driver performing more than one action at the same time while driving is fraught with danger.

It stated that Law No. (5) of 2020 regarding vehicle impoundment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi clarified that the fine for a vehicle exceeding a red light is 1,000 dirhams and 12 traffic points. The vehicle will be impounded for 30 days, and the financial value of releasing the vehicle impoundment will be 50,000 dirhams. The violating driver’s driving license will be withdrawn for a period of 6 months, starting from the date the license is withdrawn, provided that the vehicle will be impounded until the financial value of releasing the impoundment is paid, for a maximum period of three months. If the dues are not paid, the vehicle will be sold at public auction.
