"swap" Exclusive sponsor of the DC Open Tennis Championship until 2030
Abu Dhabi, 8 June / WAM / MDE Tennis, the company supervising the management and operation of the DC Open Tennis Championship, announced that Mubadala Investment Company has been chosen as the exclusive sponsor of the tournament until 2030, to be held as of June 4, 2026 under the name “Mubadala DC Open Tennis Championship.”
The new agreement signed for this purpose extends five years from 2026 to 2030, completing the partnership that brought together the two parties during the period from 2023 to 2025, when Mubadala was a major co-sponsor of the tournament.
It is the world’s only joint ATP and WTA 500 tournament and marks the start of the North American summer professional tennis season, which begins in Washington and concludes in New York.
The new partnership comes in light of the continued momentum witnessed by the tournament, after it recorded 59 consecutive fully attended rounds since 2019, in addition to expanding its partner base and enhancing its global presence and societal impact.
The expanded partnership includes additional support for the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation, the main beneficiary of the tournament since its founding in 1969, which contributes to the development of educational, community, youth and tennis development programs in the American capital.
The 57th edition of the tournament will be held from July 25 to August 2 at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Washington, with the participation of an elite group of the world’s most prominent players, male and female, in addition to a program of charitable and community events.
Humaid Abdullah Al Shammari, Executive Vice President of the Group at Mubadala, said that the partnership reflects the company’s long-term commitment to supporting tennis globally and empowering the communities in which it invests, stressing the continued work to develop the tournament and consolidate its position as one of the most prominent global sporting events until 2030.
For his part, Mark Ian, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mubadala DC Open Tennis Championship, confirmed that Mubadala’s support has contributed over the past years to enhancing the tournament’s growth, expanding its global presence, developing the fans’ experience, and increasing its societal impact, noting that the new agreement represents a new stage in the tournament’s journey.
Within the framework of this partnership, Mubadala continues to support community initiatives related to the tournament, as it has contributed, in cooperation with the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation, to achieving a positive impact in the lives of more than a thousand young men and children through tennis programs, education, practical training, and cultural exchange between the UAE and the United States.
It is noteworthy that the “DC Open Tennis Championship” was launched more than 50 years ago based on the vision of tennis legend Arthur Ashe to make professional tennis competitions available to everyone, and today it has become one of the most prominent tournaments on the global tennis agenda.
