The third edition of the Emirati-Japanese falconry program begins the day after tomorrow

Abu Dhabi, 3rd January / WAM / The activities of the third edition of the Emirati-Japanese Falconry Program, organized by the Emirates Falconers Club, will begin tomorrow, Monday, within the framework of the agreement signed with the Japanese Inpex-Judco Foundation, which aims to enhance friendship programs, student exchange, and cultural cooperation between falconers in the UAE and Japan.
This year’s edition will be held in Al Ain under the slogan “Building Heritage Bridges through Falconry” and will continue until January 8, and confirms the status of falconry as an effective means of cultural communication between peoples.
His Excellency Majid Ali Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Emirates Falconers Club, stressed that the continued support of the wise leadership for this program reflects the deep belief in the value of falconry as a comprehensive cultural and human heritage, and its role in strengthening bridges of cultural communication and consolidating the values of mutual respect and sustainability.
He said that falconry represents a global language that transcends borders and reflects authentic values based on respect for nature and the transfer of knowledge between generations, and that the club continues, through this program, to build effective cultural partnerships with Japan that contribute to the preservation of this ancient human heritage.
He explained that the 2026 edition program combines theoretical and applied aspects in an integrated educational experience, enabling participants to learn closely about the depth of Emirati falconry and its cultural and environmental dimensions, stressing the club’s keenness to prepare a conscious generation of falconers capable of preserving this heritage in accordance with the highest standards of sustainability.
The third edition complements the success achieved by the previous two editions. The first is in the city of Al Ain during January 2024, and the second is in the Japanese city of Ichihara during February 2025.
The activities of the 2026 edition will be held in the Remah area in Al Ain, within a desert camp near Al Ain Hills Resort, with the participation of Emirati and Japanese falconers, students of the Mohammed bin Zayed School of Falconry and Desert Physiognomy, students in Japanese falconry, in addition to students of the Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Boys, and a number of experts and specialists in the field of falconry and preserving birds of prey.
The program includes a comprehensive schedule of theoretical and applied activities, including an introduction to the types of falcons used in traditional Arab falconry, practical training sessions using the talwah, in addition to huntsman flights practiced in accordance with the ethical rules of sustainable falconry, including hunting bustards and desert rabbits using falcons and Arabian saluki dogs, in addition to tracking activities and the art of desert physiognomy.
The program also includes workshops on traditional handicrafts related to falconry, and the design of some of its tools, in addition to cultural sessions in the Majlis (Hadira) covering Emirati sand, Arabic coffee, hunting stories, and traditional cooking activities.
The program pays special attention to health and environmental aspects, by introducing the foundations of veterinary care, conducting health examinations for falcons, and educational visits to the falconry clinic, which contributes to consolidating the ethics of falconry, enhancing awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability and respect for wildlife, and transferring the authentic values associated with this ancient sport to new generations.
