"Sharjah Chamber"..Continuing efforts to empower local honey producers

Sharjah, January 3 / WAM / The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues its efforts to support the beekeeping and honey production sector by ensuring the strengthening of national industries specialized in this sector, empowering entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises, and ensuring their effective contribution to supplying the local product.
The Chamber’s efforts to support the honey sector come within an integrated development system that is in line with the adoption by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah of a comprehensive plan targeting the sustainability of natural pastures and the protection of local breeds. The plan includes developing an advanced legislative framework that includes a mechanism for licensing beekeepers and regulating the use of sites, ensuring the transformation of this sector from a traditional activity into a sustainable economic system.
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched the Al Dhaid Honey Festival, which embodied a strategic platform incubating producers and an interactive space highlighting the quality and diversity of the local product. The festival succeeded in highlighting the environmental richness of the country and allowed participants to display high-quality varieties such as “Samr and Sidr” honey, in addition to introducing rare species produced by local beekeepers.
The Chamber focuses its efforts on supporting honey producers, expanding the scope of marketing, and exchanging experiences on the best practices for raising bee strains adapted to the country’s environment in a way that ensures the continuity of supply chains and their production efficiency.
The Chamber confirmed that supporting the beekeeping and honey production sector comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership in strengthening the national food security system, noting that the festivals and initiatives launched by the Chamber go beyond their commercial dimensions to embody its vision of harmonizing economic goals and preserving the cultural and environmental heritage of the emirate.
Mohammed Musabah Al Tunaiji, Director of the Sharjah Chamber Branch in Al Dhaid, and General Coordinator of the Al Dhaid Honey Festival, explained that the Chamber is adopting a comprehensive strategy to support the honey sector based on the economic empowerment of beekeepers, ensuring the quality of the national product, and opening up export prospects to regional and global markets, pointing out that the growing success of the sector in the emirate reflects the growing confidence in the local product and confirms the success of the Chamber’s efforts in providing innovative marketing platforms that open new horizons of growth for entrepreneurs.
Al Tunaiji pointed out, in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, the Al Dhaid Honey Festival represents an incubating environment for young talents and pioneering projects in the beekeeping and honey production sector and its role in enabling them to achieve excellence and success in their projects, thus consolidating the concepts of sustainability in this important sector.
A number of beekeepers praised the role of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in enhancing the status of Emirati honey by supporting projects working in this field and providing the elements for building a strong relationship between local honey producers and consumers.
Ahmed Al Mazrouei referred to the efforts of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in organizing the Al Dhaid Honey Festival and the prizes it provided in honey competitions to motivate producers, showcase the products to a wide segment of consumers, and introduce the nutritional and healing value of honey.
Yousef Al Mazrouei stressed the extent of the benefit he achieved from participating in the festival, which constituted a comprehensive platform for experiences and the latest methods in producing the best types of honey, pointing out that his company won first place in the festival competitions and fifth place globally in the London Award for Best Sidr Honey, which reflects the quality of the Emirati product and its ability to compete globally.
Muhammad Mahfouz Salem Sahib said that the support provided by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to beekeepers contributes to enhancing the presence of the national product and encouraging expansion in this promising sector.
