The interim president of Venezuela calls on Trump for a relationship based on respect
Interim President of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez called on President Donald Trump for a balanced and respectful relationship with the United States, which arrested Nicolas Maduro during a US military operation in the country.
Rodriguez wrote on the Telegram application: "It is our priority to strive for a balanced and respectful international relationship between the United States and Venezuela, as well as between Venezuela and other countries in the region, based on sovereign equality and non-interference."
She added: "We extend a call to the United States Government to work together on a cooperative agenda focused on shared development within the framework of international law to promote sustainable societal coexistence."
Rodriguez continued to address Trump "Our people and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war. This has always been the message of President Nicolas Maduro, and now it is the message of all of Venezuela"
Maduro arrest operation
