The movie “The Pain of Parting” is a love letter from the daughter of the late director Sameh Abdel Aziz to the audience
In honor of the name of her father, the late director Sameh Abdel Aziz, the young director, Jamila Sameh Abdel Aziz, made her first film, “The Pain of Parting,” which tells her personal experience after her father’s passing, available on all her pages on social networking sites and the YouTube platform, with the aim of keeping the name of the late director alive in the artistic arena.
The film “The Pain of Parting” was written and directed by Jamila Sameh Abdel Aziz, and starring the star Khaled Al-Sawy, and was shown for the first time in a special screening, held on the sidelines of the activities of the “Cairo International Film Festival”, in its forty-sixth session, which was held last November.
The young director, Jamila Sameh Abdel Aziz, had made it clear, through her official Instagram account, that the goal of publishing the film “The Pain of Parting” via social networking sites was for it to reach everyone who had been waiting for it. Circumstances did not allow him to attend its screening at the Cairo International Film Festival. She published a picture of the film’s poster and commented: “Very happy… I am finally able to share the film (The Pain of Parting) with all the people who were waiting for it.” The film will be shown on January 6, 2026, at 7 pm, on all social media platforms; To reach everyone who wants to see it and share the experience with me.”

She added: “The film is a very personal experience, through which I revealed the extent of my connection with my father, the late director Sameh Abdel Aziz. It is a very personal experience for me, and it will remain one of the most important films in my life. I am proud that I was able to express my feelings through a cinematic work.”
Jamila Sameh Abdel Aziz described the maturity of the film’s idea and its transformation into reality as a “beautiful dream.” She expected to implement it with limited capabilities, but she was happy with the love of people in the artistic community for her father, and their lack of hesitation in supporting her and participating until the film “The Pain of Parting” came to light.
The film “The Pain of Parting” appeared for the first time in the activities of the Cairo International Film Festival, and the artist Khaled Al-Sawy participated in its starring role alongside: Maryam Al-Mahdi and Tamer Farag. It deals with the daughter’s view of her father’s life, and the impact of his sudden passing, last July, and it is written and directed by Jamila Sameh Abdel Aziz, who chose to tell her pain in the language that the father loved.
The late director, Sameh Abdel Aziz, died last July, at the age of 49, after suffering a sudden health crisis, after which he was transferred to the hospital, and it was found that he had a viral infection in the blood, which caused a severe increase in blood sugar, which required his admission to “intensive care,” and his health condition deteriorated until he passed away.
