Exciting rounds on the first public open day of the Fazza Championship

DUBAI, 7th January, 2018 (WAM) – The general open category rounds began amidst strong competition and wide Gulf participation in the first two days of the “Gir Taba” and “Gir Shaheen” competitions, within the Fazza falconry championship, the main Talwah, organized by the Fazza Championships Department at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage, with the participation of an elite group of falconers, and the number of participating birds has exceeded the 1,000-bird barrier since the start of the event, in light of expectations of record participation in the coming days.

The General Open category witnessed a remarkable presence of falconers from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, especially from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar, which added a distinctive competitive atmosphere to the tournament, which represents one of the most prominent platforms for preserving the sport of falconry and enhancing its presence among generations.

In the Jeer Taba rounds, the Al-Maidan team won the Farkh Symbol round with the nominated bird with a time of 16.583 seconds, followed by the Dubai team with the 160 bird with a time of 16.582 seconds, while Abdullah Khalfan Al Qubaisi came third with the orange bird with a time of 16.890 seconds. Al Qubaisi also excelled in the Girnas Symbol half with the bird Mudjiz with a time of 16.782 seconds, and the Al Sermi team came second and third with the T27 and Mushakat birds.

In the Jeer Shaheen rounds, Abdullah Khalfan Al Qubaisi achieved the Farkh Symbol run with the mad bird with a time of 16.708 seconds, followed by the Dubai team with the R16 bird, while Al Qubaisi came back to finish third with the terrifying bird. The Al-Maidan team also won the Girnas symbol half with the bird Ajeeb, and the Dubai team came second and third with the two birds Al-Asmar and Tjouri. In the Golden Burqa Chicken round, Al Qubaisi excelled, achieving first and second places, and Rashid Hamid Al Mansouri came third.

The competitions will continue tomorrow, Thursday, with the Pure Gear rounds, and the Qarmosha rounds will be held the next day.

Dimithan bin Suwaidan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Fazza Falconry Championships, confirmed that the increasing demand reflects the tournament’s success in attracting new falconers, pointing out that the accumulation of experience and high technical awareness contributed to providing strong levels that enhance the position of the Fazza Championship as one of the most prominent heritage tournaments in the region.
