A “supercomputer” ranks Arab teams according to their chances of winning the African Cup

The Opta Network website, which specializes in football statistics, revealed the chances of the Arab teams to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, according to artificial intelligence nominations, and based on the teams’ performance rates after the conclusion of the round of 16 in the tournament currently being held in Morocco, which will be unveiled on January 18.

The website explained: “A supercomputer was used to determine the teams’ chances, after feeding it with all the data and performance rates of the competing teams, and simulating 10,000 possible scenarios using artificial intelligence.”
The artificial intelligence gave the Egyptian team fourth place in terms of success rates, amounting to 12.25%, compared to Morocco in terms of the best chances, with a rate of 22.52%, followed by the Senegal team with a rate of 17.64%, then Algeria third with a rate of 14.91%.
Three Arab teams succeeded in reaching the quarter-finals, the matches of which will be held on the 9th and 10th of January, when the host Moroccan national team will meet on the 9th of this month at the “Prince Moulay Abdullah” stadium in Rabat, with its counterpart the Cameroonian national team, followed the next day by the Algerian national team’s match against Nigeria, which will be held at the Marrakesh stadium, and the curtain will fall on Egypt’s match against Ivory Coast, which will bring them together at Al Dar Stadium in “Agadir”.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian team has won the African Cup of Nations the most, with seven titles, which came in the 1957, 1958, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010 editions, while the Algerian team is looking for its third title after being crowned in 1990 and 2019, and the host Moroccan team is looking forward to its second title after being crowned with the 1976 edition title.
