Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi witnesses the graduation ceremony of postgraduate students at the University of Sharjah

Sharjah, January 8, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, witnessed today the graduation ceremony of the University of Sharjah’s graduate students, Fall 2025 batch, numbering 394 male and female graduates, in the University City Hall.
His Highness, the President of the University of Sharjah, pointed out that professions and jobs change their names, and their specializations develop, with the change of time and generations, and all of them are great professions, which will remain of value and impact, but the essence of the dream remains the same, that a person should be useful and have an impact, stressing His Highness, “The value is not in making the first childhood wish come true, but rather in turning the journey of life into a journey of giving and a journey of impact.”
His Highness addressed the male and female graduates, saying, “Today you stand on the threshold of a new phase of your life. You have carried the trust of knowledge and are equipped with the tools of knowledge. I see in your faces the same certainty and the same determination that creates a future that is not waited for, but rather built. You have graduated from a distinguished academic edifice, a university that has achieved exceptional achievements //.”
His Highness the President of the University of Sharjah addressed the most prominent numbers achieved by the university at the local and global levels, saying: “The University of Sharjah has become among the best 350 universities in the world according to the Times World University Rankings for the year 2026, and achieved 3rd place globally in the international outlook standard, and 47th globally in the quality of research in the same classification. As for the Times Multidisciplinary Sciences classification, the university ranked 26th globally, and 4th in the Arab world, while the University of Sharjah topped the Sharjah, UAE universities in their first participation in this classification //.
His Highness added: “The University of Sharjah ranked in the Shanghai World Ranking for the year 2025, among the top 150 universities in the specializations of energy science and engineering, among the top 200 universities in the world in the specialty of dentistry, and among the top 300 universities in the world in the specializations of medicine, nursing, and mechanical, chemical, electrical, and electronic engineering.” His Highness pointed out that it is an achievement that reflects the academic and research excellence enjoyed by the University of Sharjah.
His Highness, the President of the University of Sharjah, reviewed what the university has achieved in the field of innovation, saying: “Your university has made qualitative leaps. The number of applications for patent disclosure has reached 100, and 65 innovations have been registered in international patent offices in the United States of America and Europe, while 29 of them have actually been granted patents so far. The university is currently working on converting 9 of these innovations into startup companies, some of which are being launched, while others are completing their final stages //.” His Highness pointed out that it is a clear message that the University of Sharjah is not just an academic institution, but rather a platform for the production of knowledge, technology and innovation.
His Highness addressed the parents of the graduates, saying: “Today we stand before this achievement, and we realize that behind every graduate is a story of patience, behind every success is a prayer, and behind every testimony is a family that believed. You were the true partners in this journey: you supported, contained, and endured anxiety before joy, and fatigue before the bright moment, so today you have all the appreciation and gratitude //.”
At the end of his speech, His Highness the President of the University of Sharjah sent a message to the male and female graduates, saying: “Go forth with the confidence of those who know their worth, and with the courage of those who realize that the future belongs to those who strive for it. Do not be afraid to experiment, and do not hesitate to innovate, for the world does not wait for the hesitant, but rather waits for those who are like you, so be honest with yourselves, loyal to your principles, and dedicated to serving your communities //.”
The graduation ceremony began with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates, and the recitation of clear verses from the Holy Quran, after which Dr. Essam Al-Din Ajami, Director of the University of Sharjah, delivered a speech at the beginning of which he said, “On this bright day, I extend my highest thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, for his generous patronage and honoring the ceremony, and for His Highness’ constant keenness to support the process of higher education and scientific research. I also congratulate the male and female graduates of postgraduate studies.” And their honorable families for this well-deserved achievement that embodies years of hard work, diligence and perseverance.”
Ajami added, “Obtaining a master’s or doctoral degree does not represent the end of an academic journey, but rather the beginning of a greater scientific and moral responsibility. Science is not an end in itself, but rather a tool for building humanity and serving society. The true researcher is the one who uses his knowledge to solve problems, develop thought, and create a positive impact that contributes to the progress and prosperity of nations.”
He spoke about the university’s efforts and vision in investing in people, saying, “The University of Sharjah is proud to be a regional and international knowledge beacon, based on a solid vision that believes in science as a civilized project, and invests in people above all else, inspired by the approach of its founder, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and today you are an extension of this honorable academic legacy, and ambassadors for the university’s values wherever you are.”
Ajami recommended that the male and female graduates be bridges between knowledge and application, models of critical and responsible thinking, and seeds of positive change in their societies, calling on them to proceed on the path of solid science, with conscious will and renewed hope, and to harness the knowledge they have acquired to serve humanity and build a more advanced and sustainable future, wishing them success.
For his part, graduate Yousef Al Hammadi delivered a speech on behalf of the male and female graduates, in which he stressed that this moment is worth a lifetime, as it began with a dream that instilled in them a love of science and the continuation of study at the University of Sharjah, the majestic scientific edifice in which they learned that ambition does not stop at a limit, and that knowledge is a responsibility before it is an achievement, indicating that the scientific journey was a rich experience that formed awareness, and established the belief that learning is a continuous and never-ending path.
Al Hammadi added, “We cannot celebrate this coronation without recalling with all sincerity the vision and support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who believed that building a human being begins with building the mind, so he founded the University of Sharjah to be a beacon of science and a civilized project that serves thought, humanity, and society. We are also proud of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi’s presidency of the university, and his continuous support for its path, which reflects the continuity of the approach and the leadership’s keenness to Establishing a scientific environment that embraces ambition and excellence.”
Graduate Youssef Al-Hammadi extended his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Issam Al-Din Ajami, the university’s director, praising his wise leadership and management close to the students and the field, and his constant keenness for the university to be a space for real learning, critical thinking, and building a researcher capable of facing the demands of the future, appreciating the efforts of the professors who were the compass in their scientific journey, and left their deep mark in their minds, method, and research values.
Al Hammadi concluded his speech by addressing the parents who were the primary support and motivation, dedicating this graduation to them with pride and gratitude, stressing that after God’s grace, their support was the basis. He also spoke to his fellow graduates, male and female, saying, “Today we bear the name of the University of Sharjah with a responsibility before it is a title, and we pledge to our leadership, our university, and our country to be the best ambassadors for science, and to transform what we have learned into beneficial impact, responsible research, and work worthy of Sharjah’s values and its cultural mission.”
His Highness, the President of the University of Sharjah, handed the male and female graduates their graduation certificates, congratulating them on this achievement and excellence, wishing them success in their future lives and service to their country.
The male and female postgraduate graduates were distributed among the academic programs of the university’s various colleges, and their number reached 394 male and female graduates as follows: 16 from the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, 45 from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, 89 from the College of Business Administration, 80 from the College of Engineering, 7 from the College of Health Sciences, 73 from the College of Law, 15 from the College of Communication, 12 from the College of Medicine, 11 from the College of Pharmacy, and 16 from College of Science, and 30 from the College of Computing and Information Technology.
