A slight increase in weekly unemployment claims in America

Washington, January 8 / WAM / The number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment benefits rose slightly last week, indicating that layoffs were relatively low at the end of 2025, but available job opportunities are still limited.

The US Department of Labor said today that initial applications for government unemployment benefits rose by eight thousand to 208 thousand applications after seasonal adjustment in the week ending December 27.
