Dubai Police and the Environment Agency are discussing ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination

The Director General of the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani Hareb, visited the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology at the Dubai Police, and was received by the Director of the General Department, Major General Ahmed bin Ghalita, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination, and within the framework of achieving integration of efforts between government agencies in the Emirate of Dubai.

The meeting between the two sides was attended by the Deputy Director of the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology for Technical Affairs, Brigadier General Expert Rashid Lootah, the Director of the Specialized Forensic Evidence Department, Brigadier General Expert Khaled Al-Sumaiti, the Deputy Director of the General Department for Administrative Affairs, Colonel Dr. Rashid Al-Ghafri, and a number of officers and officials from both sides.

This visit comes in the context of the two sides’ keenness to develop prospects for cooperation and coordination in the fields of environment and environmental security, and to raise the level of integration in scientific environmental examinations, in a way that enhances the efforts made to achieve environmental sustainability, and supports the strategic goals of the Dubai government in maintaining a healthy and safe environment.

The two sides reviewed areas of joint work and ways to employ the advanced scientific and technical capabilities of the General Department of Forensic Evidence to support the initiatives of the Dubai Environment Authority, especially in the field of laboratory environmental examinations and monitoring environmental indicators using precise forensic tools and techniques.

Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani Hareb stressed that the Dubai Environment Authority seeks to strengthen the integrated work system with various governmental and specialized agencies, to ensure the achievement of the authority’s strategic objectives, noting the main role of the Dubai Police in implementing the law and supporting security efforts to protect the environment, as a strategic partner, with its technical expertise and advanced laboratories that keep pace with the best international practices in the fields of examination and analysis.

He added, “We work together for a more sustainable tomorrow, in which we ensure a safe environment for future generations, and we strive to raise the level of performance by employing science and knowledge in the service of the environment and society.”

For his part, Major General Ahmed Thani bin Ghalita stressed that the Dubai Police pays great attention to the environmental security file as it is a natural extension of the police responsibility to maintain the security and safety of society, pointing out that this visit comes within the framework of building bridges of cooperation between the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology and the Dubai Environment Authority, in a way that enhances the ability of human cadres to deal with any environmental problems according to scientific foundations based on the best international practices in the field.

He added, “We seek for this cooperation to be a role model in integrating roles between government agencies, with the aim of contributing to supporting the strategic directions of the Emirate of Dubai as a leading global city in sustainable development, environmental safety, and institutional innovation.”

Brigadier General Rashid Lootah, Senior Expert, said during the meeting that scientific cooperation in the field of environmental examinations is an essential pillar for enhancing work efficiency and integrating roles between concerned parties. This trend comes in line with government trends that support sustainability, environmental protection, and strengthening the knowledge-based institutional work system.

For his part, Colonel Expert Dr. Rashid Al-Ghaferi pointed out that research cooperation and exchange of experiences contribute directly to the development of the scientific system, stressing the importance of developing human cadres and building specialized capabilities to keep pace with future challenges and raise the readiness of the concerned authorities.

In turn, the head of the Micro-Antiquities Examination Department, Major Expert Dr. Hamad Saeed Rashid, said that the micro-examinations related to wildlife and environmental evidence represent an integral element in protecting the environment and combating crimes related to reserves, and contribute to strengthening institutional integration with the Authority and exchanging data and expertise in a way that supports environmental protection and improves the quality of technical and scientific outputs.
