European countries are discussing the deployment of NATO forces in Greenland

Bloomberg reported on Sunday that a group of European countries led by Britain and Germany are discussing plans to strengthen their military presence in Greenland to show US President Donald Trump that the continent is serious about Arctic security.
The agency added, citing informed sources, that Germany will propose forming a joint NATO mission to protect the Arctic region.
Trump said on Friday that the United States needs to own Greenland to prevent Russia or China from occupying it in the future. He repeatedly stated that Russian and Chinese ships were operating near Greenland, something the Nordic countries rejected.
