A Russian missile ignites tension on NATO borders…and Poland reveals the details

Poland accused Russia of being behind the launch of a missile that landed inside its territory, without causing any injuries, in conjunction with the heavy bombing launched by Moscow on Ukraine on Wednesday night.
Residents of the town of Tarnava Cologne in the Lublin region heard a strong explosion shortly before four in the morning, while the site of the missile fall was located about 80 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine war

Residents informed the local police, who found a hole about ten meters in diameter in a field about two kilometers from the homes, in addition to the wreckage of an unknown object, according to an official statement.
The Armed Forces Operations Command announced that a Mi-24 helicopter monitored what was suspected to be the site of the object’s fall in the field during the night.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk went to the Lublin region, where he headed a crisis cell in the presence of the Ministers of Defense and Interior, while the authorities opened an investigation to determine the source and nature of the projectile.
Tusk said that the debris collected indicated that it was a Russian Kh-101 missile, stressing that “there is no reason to believe that Poland was the target” of the attack.

Russian cruise missile

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Spiga said that the landing of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile inside Poland represented a “violation of NATO airspace.”
During the night, Russia launched 74 missiles and 284 drones towards Ukraine, killing at least eight people, and the attack particularly targeted the Lviv region near the Polish border.
This incident is an extension of a series of similar incidents since the outbreak of the war. In November 2022, Poland witnessed the fall of a Ukrainian defensive missile that killed two people, and about 20 Russian drones entered or fell into Polish airspace in September 2025.
