The Board of Directors of the National Archives and Library emphasizes enhancing the attraction of young Emirati talent

Abu Dhabi, 13 January / WAM / The Board of Directors of the National Archives and Library affirmed its commitment to national initiatives and its keenness to attract young national competencies and experiences, in addition to developing the methods and practices used in collecting, preserving and making available the nation’s memory, while benefiting from modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence and its applications in implementing the core tasks of the Council.

This came during the Council’s meeting with its new formation, headed by His Excellency Hamad bin Abdul Rahman Al Midfa, and in the presence of all members, where he reviewed its agenda for the year 2026 and the events, activities and programs it includes.

The Council expressed its appreciation for the attention given by the Archives and the National Library to the Year of the Family, through a range of events and activities directed at all segments of society, which aim to consolidate the values ​​of cohesion, compassion and cooperation, which contributes to enhancing the strength, stability and cohesion of Emirati society, and highlights the fundamental role of the family in the process of comprehensive development, and pushing the wheel of progress towards a more prosperous future.

In its meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Archives and the National Library, the Council discussed the latest developments in the implementation of the National Library strategy, appreciating the efforts made in building integrated national knowledge content through developing the National Library’s digital portal and enhancing digital repositories, which contributes to linking the knowledge space with various segments of society, including researchers and academics, facilitating access to data, and preserving the national knowledge production of institutions and individuals alike.

The Council stressed the need to continue efforts aimed at establishing a national library that is comparable to major international libraries, to be a cultural and civilizational beacon that preserves the Emirati heritage and documents the history of the country, by benefiting from the latest international technologies and expertise, and in a way that reflects the Emirati leadership in preserving human heritage.

In addition, the Council reviewed the annual report for the year 2025 with the aim of evaluating performance during the past year, following up on the implementation of plans, setting priorities, and reviewing the performance indicators that showed the achievements and strategic goals achieved by the Archives and the National Library, praising its organized efforts to preserve national memory, enhance social responsibility, and its positive interaction with national initiatives.

The Council stressed the importance of committing to implementing the new Human Resources Law, in a way that supports building a fair and stimulating work environment that attracts competencies, improves employee performance, and reflects positively on the organization’s efficiency and outputs.

It is noteworthy that the Council, with its new formation, is headed by His Excellency Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Midfa, and its membership includes His Excellency Muhammad Al Murr (Vice Chairman), Dr. Abdullah Salah Maghribi, Dr. Abdullah Al Raisi, Saud Al Hosani, Reem Yousef Al Shammari, and Ahmed Al Haj Abdullah Al Habroush. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the Archives and the National Library.
