"Energy and infrastructure" It reviews the UAE’s efforts at the Sustainable Development Goals Forum

ABU DHABI, 15 JANUARY / WAM / His Excellency Engineer Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for the Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector, during his participation in the Sustainable Development Goals Forum within Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, confirmed that the phase extending from 2030 to 2045 requires a qualitative transition from formulating pledges to building integrated implementation systems, based on flexibility, scalability, and strengthening cross-border partnerships.
Al Kaabi explained that the UAE experience confirms that accelerating implementation is based on integrating policies between energy, water and infrastructure, adopting innovation and advanced technologies, and expanding the scope of partnership with the private sector, to ensure the sustainability of the economic, environmental and social impact.
Al Kaabi pointed out that international platforms, most notably Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, represent a practical lever to transform global dialogue from ambition to implementation, and from short-term goals to systems capable of responding to future requirements until 2045.
He reviewed indicators of national progress in the clean energy sector, pointing to the rapid growth in the installed capacity of renewable energy, the high volume of investments in this vital sector, and raising the target for electricity production from clean sources, in addition to integrating the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050 within the framework of comprehensive energy planning, in a way that enhances energy security and supports the path of climate neutrality.
He highlighted the role of the National Energy and Water Demand Management Program in reducing emissions and achieving tangible economic savings, stressing that consumption efficiency represents an essential foundation for achieving long-term sustainability and improving the quality of life.
His Excellency pointed to the UAE’s leadership of the Global Alliance for Energy Efficiency, which aims to accelerate the pace of global improvement of energy efficiency through the exchange of experiences and the development of innovative solutions, thus enhancing the country’s position as a reliable international partner and a practical source of applicable solutions.
