Reem Al Hashemi begins a tour in Latin America with visits to Mercosur countries
Capitals, 18 January / WAM / Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, began her tour in Latin America with visits to the member states of the Mercosur group, namely Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, stressing the UAE’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding areas of cooperation in priority sectors, in a way that supports sustainable growth and common prosperity.
Her Excellency met with His Excellency President Yamando Orci, President of the Republic of Uruguay, and His Excellency President Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay. Her Excellency conveyed to her the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “May God protect him,” and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff. Presidency.
Her Excellency also expressed her wishes for further progress and prosperity for the friendly peoples of Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
As part of her visits, Her Excellency Al Hashemi held meetings with senior government officials in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, which included discussions with His Excellency Mario Lubetkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, His Excellency Pablo Cuerno, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, His Excellency Luis Caputo, Minister of Economy of Argentina, and His Excellency Javier Jiménez, Minister of Industry and Trade of Paraguay.
During these meetings, Her Excellency congratulated the completion of the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, and stressed that completing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and Mercosur is a priority for the UAE.
Her Excellency also held talks with Her Excellency Carolina Cusi, Vice President of Uruguay, Her Excellency Alfredo Frati, Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay, and Her Excellency Martin Menem, Speaker of the Argentine House of Representatives.
The discussions highlighted the importance of cooperation in the fields of technology, infrastructure, energy, mining, and agricultural industries.
Her Excellency Al Hashemi also met with His Excellency Jorge Macri, President of the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, at the famous Colon Theater, where she was announced as the city’s guest of honor.
The visits included holding high-level business meetings with a group of senior executives and influential stakeholders in Argentina and Paraguay, covering various sectors, during which ways to facilitate increased private sector participation in the economies of the two countries were discussed.
As an expression of the UAE’s respect for the rich history and heritage of Latin America, Her Excellency visited the “Gaucho and Currency” Museum in Uruguay, stressing the importance of cultural exchange and relations between peoples in strengthening bilateral relations.
During the visit, Her Excellency was accompanied by His Excellency Saeed Abdullah Al Qamzi, UAE Ambassador to the Argentine Republic and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, and Her Excellency Dr. Al Saghira Al Ahbabi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Paraguay, along with a delegation of government officials.
