"Higher education" Completes electronic data linkage with 54 institutions

Abu Dhabi, 19 January / WAM / The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has completed the process of electronic data linking with 54 higher education institutions within the country, within the framework of an integrated national digital project that aims to employ educational data to support decision-making, develop policies, improve the student’s journey at its various stages, and improve the quality of educational services, in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency and governance, while the Ministry continues to complete linking the rest of the institutions according to an approved phased plan.
This link contributes to improving the student experience by simplifying procedures, accelerating admission services and recognition of qualifications, and ensuring the accuracy of academic data, in a way that supports his smooth transition between the stages of education, graduation, and entry into the labor market.
The connectivity system provides decision-makers with immediate access to accurate and updated data and indicators, through smart dashboards, which contribute to supporting academic planning, monitoring future trends, and making decisions based on reliable data at the institutional and national levels.
Linkage represents a transformative framework in the methodology of monitoring and evaluating the performance of higher education institutions, by relying on integrated data and focusing on educational outcomes and acquired skills instead of traditional inputs, in line with the Higher Education and Scientific Research Law that was issued recently. It aims to establish a comprehensive federal framework for regulating the higher education and scientific research sector, enhancing governance and management efficiency, and improving the quality and competitiveness of higher education, ensuring the alignment of the educational system’s outcomes with the requirements of the labor market.
Dr. Rawan Ghali, Director of Institutional Effectiveness at the American University in Dubai, said: “After completing the automatic data linkage project with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, we noticed a positive impact on performance at the academic and administrative levels at the university, as this linkage allowed us to exchange data securely and immediately between the university and the ministry.”
Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, explained that this project embodies the University of Dubai’s commitment to the UAE’s vision of eliminating government bureaucracy, by simplifying procedures and improving the student experience. It contributes to automating student admission, improving reporting mechanisms for key performance indicators, and accelerating academic accreditation readiness by reducing approval time. This integration also enhances the link between education and the national labor market.
Dr. Burton Agabaw, Director of Quality Assurance and Effectiveness of Institutional Performance at the University of Fujairah, said: “Completing the automatic data linkage project represents an important step in terms of institutional governance, quality assurance and accountability, which enhances the alignment of the university’s performance with the national assessment framework based on outcomes.”
Professor Manda Venkatramana, Acting Director of Gulf Medical University, also confirmed, “The project contributed to simplifying procedures, improving data accuracy, and reducing burdens and manual administrative processes. This cooperation also established a strong base for continuing development and digital transformation efforts.”
For his part, Professor Ghassan Awad, Director of Abu Dhabi University, said: “We affirm the university’s commitment to promoting digital transformation, in line with the national vision of the UAE, which aims to build a more integrated, efficient and sustainable higher education system. Completing electronic integration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is a pivotal step that enhances the accuracy and reliability of academic data, supports the efficiency of administrative processes, and provides more transparent and smooth services to students and faculty members.”
James Morse, President of Rabdan Academy, said: “The electronic data linkage project constitutes a pivotal strategic station, in line with the UAE Vision 2031, and contributes to establishing an integrated digital higher education system, based on institutional integration and smart governance. The project has contributed to creating a qualitative shift in the efficiency of academic and administrative processes, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of data, and supporting evidence-based strategic decision-making, by shifting from traditional models to a transparent and sustainable digital system.”
The step represents a qualitative leap in the process of digital transformation of the higher education sector in the UAE, which enhances the sector’s readiness for a future based on knowledge and innovation, and supports achieving the country’s goals in building an integrated, flexible, and data-based higher education system.
The Ministry is keen to provide the necessary support to all higher education institutions. To facilitate connectivity operations and raise the level of services at the technical and logistical levels, in line with its efforts to eliminate bureaucracy and digital transformation.
