Abu Dhabi, March 11 / WAM / Indonesian players topped the men’s badminton category, as part of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ramadan Championship – Al Wathba 2026, winning the first three places.

The championship is organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Office, at the headquarters of the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, and continues until March 17, with the participation of more than 5,000 male and female athletes in 16 competitions, with a total prize pool of 10 million dirhams.

The Indonesian trio, Raza Ramadan, Rehan Alam, and Sha Ilham, won gold, silver, and bronze medals, after strong competitions and high technical levels with the participation of elite players of different nationalities.

Yesterday evening, the Muay Thai competitions for the Sunni categories continued, under the supervision of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, amid great public interaction in the hall designated for events in Al Wathba, and in the presence of parents.

Marwan Al Nuaimi, the federation’s technical director, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the organizers in supporting the holding of Muay Thai competitions in this distinguished tournament at all levels. He explained that it provided the federation with an important opportunity to prepare the players of the age groups, especially before participating in the school championship next June in Malaysia, and the importance of the players’ presence in these competitions to raise the level of preparations and enhance physical efficiency.

Al Nuaimi confirmed the participation of 250 players from the Sunni categories in the current competitions, especially since the events witnessed strong participation by the 7- and 8-year-old category for the first time in the tournament, in addition to the importance of raising the level of contact for the 9- and 10-year-old category, which reinforces the importance of gaining competitive experience for this category.

On the other hand, wrestling events will start tomorrow, over the course of two days. It is considered one of the prominent Emirati heritage sports and part of the popular heritage. It focuses on throwing techniques, by throwing the wrestler to the ground and pinning him to win the confrontation. It is popular with all groups after the great efforts of the federation to integrate it into modern wrestling and organize competitions for it within its annual championship program.
