The Jameel family was honored in recognition of its leadership in supporting the arts globally, with Fady Jameel being awarded a medal "Knight" This is part of the French Order of Arts and Letters for his pioneering and supportive role in the arts around the world

The Jameel family was recently honored in Paris for its leadership in supporting the arts Globally by awarding Fady Jameel (Co-Founder of Art Jameel, and Vice Chairman of Abdul Latif Jameel – International Operations) with the Medal "Knight" In the system of medals of arts and letters from the French Ministry of Culture – one of the highest cultural honors in France, which celebrates those with the most prominent and beneficial cultural impact on the world level.
He is awarded the title "Knight" In appreciation of those whose works have made a tangible contribution to enriching culture and the arts in France and internationally. This honor comes in line with eighty years of the Jameel family’s interest and support for social work, and more than twenty years of directed support for the arts under the leadership of Fady Jameel, through major initiatives in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and abroad, which contributed to strengthening cultural ties between the Middle East and France.
For his part, Mr. Fady Jameel stated: "This honor in the French Order of Arts and Letters is a source of great pride for us; It is an honor that would not have been possible without the great support of my family, and it also celebrates decades of our commitment to continuing the social work that my grandfather Abdul Latif Jameel (may God have mercy on him) began in Jeddah 80 years ago. I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its constant and continuous support for Art Jameel’s initiatives. I also extend my thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Culture in France, and to their colleagues in the French Embassy and Consulate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I also express my appreciation to our colleagues and partners in the governmental and private sectors for their continued support and encouragement of the cultural and artistic sector. At Art Jameel, we believe in the role of the arts in changing lives – a belief that we place at the heart of everything we do every day. Based on this, Art Jameel continues its commitment to strengthening a strong artistic ecosystem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond, by launching new initiatives that support students and creators and expand public participation in the arts, in addition to sponsoring international cultural exchange."
For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Nahhad, Consul General of France in Jeddah, explained: "This honor represents appreciation for the Jameel family’s continuous efforts and fruitful partnership over the years in supporting the arts around the world. France, the country of arts and culture, has always celebrated the efforts of those interested in spreading culture and arts. We collaborate extensively with Art Jameel on numerous cultural projects – from artist commissions and art loans to screenings of French films, implementing film education programs and supporting film productions. We look forward to continuing this partnership with the Jameel family, and strengthening this cooperation in the future."
Art Jameel – which was founded in 2003 by the Jameel family and is headed by Fady Jameel – has become one of the most prominent and influential artistic institutions in the Middle East. The Foundation is based on the belief that the arts are an essential element of life and should be available to everyone. Despite its private funding from the Jameel family, the Foundation works to serve the community in partnership and coordination with governments to expand the horizons of learning, exchange and development through the arts.
Art Jameel supports two independent institutions: Neighborhood Jameel, the home of Jeddah for cinema and the arts, and Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai’s center for contemporary art and ideas, which recently received the Medal of Excellence at the Art Basel Awards for its pioneering vision and outstanding impact.
