Developing sewage treatment systems at Warsan station to eliminate unpleasant odors in Al Warqa

Dubai Municipality revealed the details of its plan for the development of the Warsan Wastewater Treatment Plant, which will be carried out according to an innovative design that integrates circular economy standards and carbon neutrality, and adopts the latest smart operational systems. The new expansion is expected to contribute to raising the efficiency of the treatment systems to serve about 3.2 million individuals, while raising the capacity to 800 thousand cubic meters per day by 2029, and reaching one billion liters per day of recycled water, irrigating about 1.18 million square meters of green scenery. She explained during a meeting organized by the municipality with the people of the Al Warqa area, in “Al Warqa Park 3”, the day before yesterday, that the first impact of the phenomenon of spreading sewage odors comes from the Warsan sewage treatment plant, which was designed according to previous planning needs and standards, noting that the municipal teams are currently working on developing the station from two aspects, the first is developing the infrastructure and technology of the station, and the second is developing the treatment systems, to keep pace with population and urban growth.

The municipality confirmed that the project to “outsource the service of collecting, separating and transporting waste in the Al Warqaa areas” will begin in July 2026, and aims to enhance environmental commitment by separating waste from the source in a way that consolidates Dubai’s leadership as the cleanest city in the world. It will also provide each home with two containers, one for general waste and the other for recyclable materials.

The Director General of Dubai Municipality, Engineer Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalaita, said: “Part of our plans and goals in Dubai Municipality are to provide attractive, easy-to-access and comprehensive facilities for all with international designs. Within this goal we have new standards that focus on understanding the residents’ needs and daily aspirations, and their patterns of use of public spaces, in addition to enhancing communication, interaction and community cohesion in Al Furjan in a harmonious manner between the quality of infrastructure and sustainability and achieving the well-being and quality of life of the residents of Al Freej, in addition to preserving cultural and social diversity among the citizens of the population.” And residents.”

In the field of public parks and recreational facilities, Dubai Municipality revealed the landscaping projects and what is currently being implemented, in addition to the projects of public parks and family squares, which include three projects under implementation and three under design, in addition to future parks, which will number 17 parks.

She gave a presentation on the sports facility project in the first Al Warqa area, the ideal destination for indoor sports fans, which will extend over an area of ​​22,860 square meters near the public park in the area, to serve residents in Al Warqa and neighboring areas such as: Mirdif, Nad Al Hamar, Nad Shamma, and Al Rashidiya. The facility will include various playgrounds, commercial stores, service facilities, and parking lots.
