3.6 billion dirhams in total balance deals for the Ministry of Defense during "UMEX and SEMTEX"

ABU DHABI, 22nd January, 2017 (WAM) – The Tawazun Defense Empowerment Council (Tawazun) announced the total deals concluded for the benefit of the Ministry of Defense during the third and closing day of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and Simulation and Training Exhibition (SIMTEX) 2026, as the number reached three deals with a total value of one billion and 256 million and 247 thousand dirhams.
Thus, the total number of deals concluded for the Ministry of Defense over the three days of the exhibition reached 11 deals with a total value reaching 3 billion, 615 million and 858 thousand dirhams, achieving a remarkable growth of 20% compared to the previous edition of UMEX 2024, which reflects the continuous development in the volume and quality of deals, and confirms the growing confidence in the defense industry system in the UAE.
The Council stressed that the deals announced during the exhibition reflect the vital role of the Directorate of Planning and Procurement, which undertakes strategic planning for defense needs and manages the procurement system efficiently and transparently, while involving local and international suppliers from the early stages to ensure the best results are achieved.
The deals were announced by the official spokespersons of the Tawazun Defense Empowerment Council, Mohammed Saif Al Zaabi and Mana Abdul Karim Al Mansouri, as part of the Council’s keenness to present the results of the deals in a comprehensive manner that reflects the size of the partnerships concluded.
The deals announced on the closing day included two deals for the Edge Group, the first to develop drones with a jet engine at a value of 385.717 million dirhams, and the second to purchase the Tracked RCV & THEMIS system at a value of 525.205 million dirhams.
The deals also included another agreement with Caracal International, a subsidiary of the Edge Group, worth 345.325 million dirhams, to purchase remote weapons.
The two official spokespersons stressed that the deals concluded during the exhibition days reflect the strategic directions of the UAE in strengthening the advanced and sustainable defense system, and consolidating its position as a regional and global center for defense industries and future technologies, noting that the Council continues to develop strategic partnerships that contribute to achieving the goals of national security and defense.
