Thani Al-Zeyoudi meets in Davos with ministers and officials to explore opportunities for building trade and investment partnerships in sectors of the future economy

Davos, 23 January / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, renewed the UAE’s commitment to continue building new trade and investment partnerships in sectors of the future economy with countries, economic blocs and major global companies to achieve mutual interests, during a series of high-level meetings with ministers, officials, business leaders and CEOs of major companies within the activities of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
His Excellency Al-Zeyoudi held a series of meetings with: His Excellency Maroš Šefčović, European Union Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, His Excellency Maninder Sindhu, Minister of International Trade of Canada, His Excellency Khalifa Abdullah Al-Ajeel, Minister of Trade and Industry of Kuwait, His Excellency Suvaji Sithumpen, Minister of Trade of Thailand, His Excellency Luis Alberto Jaramillo, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade and Investments of Ecuador, and His Excellency Lutfi Siddiqui, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Transitional Government of Bangladesh, His Excellency Nicolas Fourisier, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness of France, and His Excellency Nara Chandarababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in India.
These bilateral meetings focused on ways to enhance mutual trade and investment flows, and enable the private sector to build trade and investment partnerships that achieve mutual economic growth.
In this context, His Excellency said: “The UAE’s participation in the World Economic Forum reflects our commitment to continuing to support economic growth and prosperity at the global level. We always believe that strong international partnerships are the basis for achieving development and prosperity for the entire world.”
He added: “Our discussions in Davos focused on enhancing trade and investment flows by building closer partnerships with countries that share the same future vision. By working within an open and rules-based trading system, we can move forward towards achieving economic development and sustainable growth for all peoples of the world.”
Within the activities of the World Economic Forum in Davos, His Excellency Al Zeyoudi participated in many dialogue sessions and forums, highlighting the UAE’s policies to keep pace with the global trade scene, accelerating the growth of advanced industries, and enabling greater participation of countries and companies in global supply chains.
His Excellency also participated in the launch of the third edition of the annual Global Trade Technology Report, which analyzes the progress made in the levels of technology adoption in the global trading system.
On the sidelines of the forum’s activities, His Excellency Al-Zeyoudi held a series of meetings with leaders of major international companies to discuss mechanisms for strengthening partnerships between the government and private sectors, which included leaders of companies: Embraer, Carlyle, Qualcomm, Tech Mahindra, Syngenta, BlackRock, and TIME magazine.
His Excellency stressed the importance of integration between governments and the private sector, calling on international companies to benefit from the innovative business environment in the UAE that supports expansion and growth.
The World Economic Forum is a major platform that brings together country leaders and decision-makers to discuss pressing global challenges.
This year’s meeting focused on the importance of dialogue and cooperation to meet the challenges of the present and seize the opportunities of the future.
