More than 70,000 new companies with foreign investment in China during 2025

BEIJING, 24 JANUARY / WAM / The total number of new foreign-invested companies established throughout China during the past year 2025 reached 70,392 companies, representing an increase of 19.1% on an annual basis.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated today that the actual use of foreign direct investment in the Chinese mainland in 2025 reached 747.69 billion yuan ($106.92 billion), a decrease of 9.5% year on year.

In terms of sectors, FDI inflows amounted to 185.51 billion yuan in the manufacturing sector and 545.12 billion yuan in the services sector.

In recent years, China has witnessed a renewed dynamism in the creation of new companies with foreign investment, an indicator that reflects the continued attractiveness of the second largest economy in the world, despite the international context characterized by slow growth, rising geopolitical tensions, and the restructuring of global supply chains.

The number of new companies with foreign investment has recorded a noticeable increase during the recent period, especially in coastal regions and major economic centers such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangdong, in addition to a noticeable expansion in the central and western regions, within the framework of a policy aimed at achieving more balanced regional development.

Despite these positive indicators, foreign investments are not without challenges, most notably the slowdown in global demand, growing international competition, as well as concerns related to trade and technological tensions between major economic powers.
