Al Dhafra Book Festival hosts a dialogue session on popular poetry

Abu Dhabi, January 24 / WAM / Al Dhafra Book Festival, organized by the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language from January 19 to 25, hosted the poet Saif Al Mazrouei, in a cultural session entitled “Stories passed down through generations,” which highlighted his contributions to preserving popular poetry and Emirati heritage.
The poet Al Mazrouei spoke at the session, which was held on the main stage of Madinat Zayed Public Park, and was interviewed by the journalist Hamid bin Muhammadi, about the authentic Emirati folk heritage.
The poet, nicknamed “Bogbi”, who enjoys a prominent position in the field of Emirati folk poetry, also touched on the process of cultural renaissance that the UAE has witnessed over the decades and which has provided the population with all the elements of a decent life, pointing out that the emerging generations must be closely linked to this process and be proud of the country’s past, which shaped its present and its bright future.
Al Mazrouei recalled stories from the past and situations that happened to him, reminding the young people present of the advantages of the old life, where people communicated and supported each other, when a brother favored his brother, cared for his neighbor, and honored his guest, and these are values well-established in UAE society.
The poet, who published a collection of poetic works, including the collections “Mithaq” and “The Perfume of the Clouds,” recited a number of poetic verses that entertained the audience.
Hosting “Bougby” at the festival comes within the framework of his keenness to appreciate the pioneers of culture and heritage, introduce young people to them, and connect them to the society’s authentic values and immortal popular heritage.
The Al Dhafra Book Festival includes an integrated program of events, including cultural and artistic sessions, and the fourth edition of the “Poetry Nights: Voices That People Loved” program, which hosts a group of Al Dhafra poets to recite their poems and perform performances of folklore arts.
The Al Dhafra Book Festival derives its vision from the rich local cultural heritage of the region, to perpetuate the values of belonging and creativity, and to support its mission of building a reading generation linked to the heritage and authentic values of Emirati society, empowering youth, and consolidating the distinctive position of the Al Dhafra region on the cultural scene in the country.
