The Arab Media Excellence Award Committee examines the impact of artificial intelligence in digital media

Cairo, January 25 / WAM / The first meeting of the Arab Media Excellence Award Committee in its tenth edition was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, headed by Mr. Talal Al-Haifi, Chairman of the Arab Media Excellence Award Committee, and Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, with the participation of representatives of Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Syria, Yemen and Libya.

Ambassador Khattabi said in his speech that the Department of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers is making a classification of the proposed topics, explaining that digital transformation and the effects of the uses of artificial intelligence have received the largest share because of its profound effects on the ethics, determinants and environment of journalistic professions and the creation of media content.

This meeting comes in implementation of the decision of the Arab Information Ministers Council during the 55th session held last November.

Khattabi stressed the importance of this award as it comes within the framework of encouraging media quality and excellence, enhancing the capabilities of media professionals, working to highlight distinguished media models, improving professional practice, stimulating innovation, fair competition, and innovation in media discourse in its various streams and specializations. He explained that the award categories relate to written, television, radio and digital media.
