The Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister receives Lana Nusseibeh

BRUSSELS, 29 JANUARY / WAM / His Excellency Maxime Prévot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, received in Brussels, His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State for European Affairs.

The meeting reviewed the distinguished bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Belgium, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in areas of common interest, within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and the European Union, and the broader partnership between the two sides.

The two parties exchanged views on a number of regional and international developments of common priority, including the situation in the Middle East, and the latest developments in Yemen, Sudan and Ukraine.

The two sides also discussed transatlantic relations and their implications for regional and international stability.

The UAE delegation included His Excellency Reem Kattit, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and His Excellency Mohammed Al-Sahlawi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Belgium.

The Belgian side was represented by Her Excellency Theodora Gentzes, Secretary-General and Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Her Excellency François Cornet Delzius, Director of Middle East and North Africa Affairs, and His Excellency Antoine Delcour, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the UAE.

The meeting affirmed the two countries’ commitment to continuing dialogue and cooperation in support of peace, security and sustainable development.
